ZOO Sea World Prague, as the aquarium is officially called, is a unique set of aquariums, one of which is the largest in the Czech Republic. Visit the underwater world in the capital city.
Sea World at the Prague exhibition grounds in Holešovice is a unique set of marine aquariums with a total area of 1,000 square meters.
In September 2005, a giant aquarium was opened at Sea World, the largest in the Czech Republic. It is a tank with a volume of 100,000 liters of seawater, with a glazed area totaling 8 meters. The tank features decoration made of coral stones weighing 4.5 tons, and 3 tons of sea salt were used to produce the seawater. The tank uses state-of-the-art filtration, through which 60,000 liters of water pass every hour; pumps are controlled by microprocessors that create a perfect simulation of sea currents. Special lighting perfectly replaces natural sunlight and, overnight, the glow of the moon.
Equally interesting as the aquarium itself are its new inhabitants. Certainly hard to miss are the sharks – the whitetip reef shark and the blacktip reef shark. The illusion of the Australian barrier reef, which the tank resembles, is complemented by schools of colorful coral fish.
Open daily from 10 AM to 7 PM.
Every Tuesday at 3:00 PM – shark feeding
Every Wednesday at 3:00 PM – center tank feeding
Every Thursday at 1:30 PM – stingray feeding by hand from a diver
Every last Friday of the month – guided night tour
