Čertova hora

About this place

An impressive peak shrouded in legends in the heart of the Krkonoše Mountains, known for its legendary ski jumps.

Čertova hora rises to a height of 1021 meters above the mountain resort Harrachov and is one of the most prominent landmarks of the western Krkonoše. According to legend, the devil wanted to dam the Jizera River here to flood the surrounding villages. The mountain is crisscrossed with hiking trails and offers magnificent views of the surrounding ridges and into Poland.

In winter, Čertova hora is a mecca for skiers – on its slope lies the famous Čerťák ski jumping complex with the mamut hill K-185, where World Cup events and World Championships have been held. The downhill slopes are served by a chairlift, and long cross-country trails invite trips along the ridges.

In summer, the mountain is an ideal destination for hiking and cycling. The summit is easily accessible from Harrachov via the blue trail, and along the way you will encounter typical Krkonoše meadows and forests. Besides natural beauty, the Harrachov glassworks or the Mumlava Waterfall are worth visiting in the area.
