The Broumovský klášter, founded in the 14th century by Benedictines from Prague's Břevnov, represents one of the most significant Baroque monuments in eastern Bohemia. Its dominant feature is the Church of St. Vojtěch with impressive fresco decoration and precious inventory. The monastery underwent extensive reconstruction and today attracts visitors not only to tours of historic interiors but also to cultural events.
Among its greatest treasures are the monastery library with tens of thousands of volumes, a unique copy of the Shroud of Turin, and a collection of Baroque paintings. Guided tours will take you to representative halls, the cloister, and the underground, where you will learn interesting facts about the life of monks. In the summer season, the courtyard comes alive with concerts and craft markets.
The monastery is easily accessible by car and bus from Broumov, parking is available at the central parking lot. We recommend booking tours in advance, especially on weekends and holidays. The complex also features a stylish café and a souvenir shop. The entire visit can ideally be combined with a trip to the surrounding rock formations of Adršpach or Teplice.
