Broumovské stěny are part of an extensive sandstone landscape in northeastern Bohemia. This rock city stretches over 12 kilometers and offers countless hiking trails through deep ravines, past bizarre rock towers and formations such as the Kamenná brána or Kovadlina. The highest point is the Hvězda summit with a beautiful view of the surroundings.
The history of Broumovské stěny is linked to the Benedictine monastery in Broumov, which used the area in the Middle Ages. In the 19th century, the first hiking trails and viewpoints were created here. Today, the walls are a protected nature reserve with many rare species of plants and animals.
Visitors are recommended a full-day circuit from Hlavňov via Hvězda and Supí skály to Police nad Metují, from where they can continue to the nearby Adršpach-Teplice Rocks. Don't forget sturdy footwear and plenty of water; it can be hot on the rocky plateaus in summer. In winter, the walls attract romantic walks with views of the snowy panorama of the Krkonoše Mountains.
