The observation tower on the summit of Boubín, the highest mountain of the Šumava range, offers breathtaking panoramas and a unique experience among the treetops.
Boubín Lookout Tower stands on the summit of Mount Boubín (1,362 m above sea level) in the heart of the Šumava Mountains. It was built in 2003–2004, replacing an older wooden observation tower from 1894. The tower is 21 meters high, with the viewing platform at 17 meters. It offers a stunning circular view of the Šumava Mountains, the Novohradské Mountains, the Alps, and, with good visibility, the Bohemian Forest.
The path to the tower leads through the Boubín Primeval Forest, one of the oldest and most valuable forest reserves in the Czech Republic. Visitors can choose a hiking route from the village of Horní Vltavice or from the parking lot near Kubova Huť, which is about 3 km along a marked trail. In winter, the tower is accessible on snowshoes or skis.
Near the tower, there is the Boubín Primeval Forest Educational Trail, which introduces the unique nature and history of this place. Don't forget to bring binoculars and a camera – the views are truly unforgettable.
