Bílá vrata

About this place

Bizarre rock formation resembling a gate, popular tourist destination in the heart of the Šumava.

Bílá vrata is an impressive rock formation located in the Šumava wilderness, near the village of Modrava. This natural creation was formed by erosion and resembles a monumental gate or door. The surrounding landscape is covered with deep forests and offers a peaceful environment for hiking.

The site is easily accessible via a marked hiking trail from Modrava or Březník. The path leads through picturesque nature, where you can spot wildlife and enjoy clean mountain air. At Bílá vrata itself, there is a viewpoint with benches, ideal for a short rest.

For geology and photography enthusiasts, this is a great destination – especially in the afternoon light, the contrast of white granite against the green forest stands out. Sturdy footwear and plenty of water are recommended, as refreshments are limited in the area.
