The highest waterfall in the Šumava Mountains and one of the most beautiful natural sites in the national park, hidden in a deep forest valley.
Bílá strž is the highest waterfall in the Šumava Mountains, located in the heart of the Šumava National Park. The water falls from a height of 13 meters over a rock step, creating an impressive cascade that is especially powerful after snowmelt or heavy rains. The entire valley of Bílá strž is protected as a national nature reserve and belongs to the best-preserved parts of Šumava.
The path to the waterfall follows the blue tourist trail from the villages of Srní or Antýgl. The trail is about 4 km long and passes through an old beech forest that resembles a primeval forest. At the site itself, there is a viewing platform where you can safely see the waterfall. We recommend sturdy shoes and enough time, as the surroundings invite longer walks.
Bílá strž is accessible year-round, but it is most impressive in spring and early summer. Due to nature protection, you must stay on marked paths and respect quiet zones. Nature lovers will surely be delighted not only by the waterfall but also by the wild nature of the Šumava forests.
