Picturesque rock area in the heart of the Czech Paradise with romantic viewpoints, the Chléviště cave and a mysterious rock labyrinth.
Besedické skály is a charming rock town near Turnov, hidden in the forests above the village of Besedice. Typical sandstone formations create a diverse mosaic of gorges, viewpoints and caves, the most famous of which is Chléviště cave. From the Kalich viewpoint there is a beautiful view of the Jizera valley and the opposite Suché skály.
The area is steeped in legends and history – Chléviště cave is said to have served as shelter for cattle during the Thirty Years' War, hence its name. In the rocks you can still find remnants of medieval fortifications and dwellings carved into the rock blocks. Romantic rock corridors and narrow passages invite adventurous exploration.
The easiest access is from the car park in Besedice, from which a red hiking trail leads in a loop of approximately 3 km. The route is also suitable for families with children, but after rain the sandstone steps can be slippery. We recommend sturdy shoes and allow about two hours for a leisurely walk and to enjoy the atmosphere.
