Discover a picturesque town with an imposing castle and the precious Reliquary of St. Maurus. A pearl of West Bohemia on the Teplá River.
Bečov nad Teplou is a picturesque town in the valley of the Teplá River, famous especially for its castle and château. The dominant feature is a large complex that combines a medieval castle from the 14th century and a Baroque château. In 1985, the precious Reliquary of St. Maurus was found here, the second most valuable jewel after the coronation jewels.
The tour includes the castle with the reliquary, château interiors, and terraced gardens. In addition, the historic center with burgher houses and the Gothic Church of St. George are worth visiting. The surroundings offer beautiful trips to the Slavkov Forest.
Bečov is easily accessible by train from Karlovy Vary or Mariánské Lázně. We recommend booking the reliquary tour in advance, as capacity is limited. Several restaurants and accommodations are nearby.
