Step into the world of Baroque healing in the original 17th-century pharmacy with unique frescoes and historic furnishings.
The Baroque Pharmacy At the White Unicorn in Klatovy is a European rarity – one of the few preserved pharmacies with original equipment from 1773. The interior is adorned with frescoes by painter František Julius Lux from 1738–1739, whose central theme is the allegory of time from architecture and sculpture to pharmacy and medicine.
The tour transports you to times when medicines were prepared by hand from herbs and minerals. You will see richly decorated cabinets, original scales, mortars, and other pharmaceutical tools. The exhibition also includes a mysterious alchemical laboratory and a collection of historical remedies.
The pharmacy is located on Klatovy Square and is open year-round. Admission is affordable, and guides are experts from the city museum. The visit can be combined with a tour of the Klatovy Catacombs and the Black Tower just a few steps away.
