Penzion • Šatov
The wine village of Šatov offers not only wine tourism but also a part of our military history. In the area of Czechoslovak fortifications, we find the accessible infantry bunker MJ-S3 "Zahrada".
Part of the area are the permanent heavy fortification objects in the village of Šatov and its immediate surroundings, built in 1935–1938 to protect the state borders, some of which were used by the army even in the post-war period. The accessible infantry bunker MJ-S3 "Zahrada" is presented as it appeared in the 1980s, including the camouflage paint used on the object during that period. This bunker is the only accessible permanent heavy fortification object from 1935–1938 in South Moravia. The object is equipped with original armament and equipment used there from 1960–1999, including two fortress cannons model 44/59. The second bunker in the area is MJ-S 2 "Úvoz", which is however not accessible to the public, only its exterior can be viewed.
What you won't learn elsewhere: 2.5 km away as the crow flies and hidden in the fields near the village of Chvalovice, there is the infantry bunker MJ-S4 Zatáčka - exact GPS coordinates 48°47'28.539"N 16°2'59.888"E. In this area, the construction of 85 infantry bunkers was planned, but only six were completed.
