Step back to the time of Great Moravia! Archeoskanzen Modrá brings to life a Slavic fortified settlement with a palace, church, and craft workshops.
Archeoskanzen Modrá lies on the original Great Moravian settlement from the 9th century. A scientifically accurate reconstruction of the fortified settlement and princely palace will immerse you in the atmosphere of the early Middle Ages. It is based on real archaeological finds and brings to life the lives of our ancestors during the Great Moravian period.
In the area you will discover the stone church of St. John the Baptist, which follows the ground plan uncovered by archaeologists, the princely palace with a log construction, fortifications with palisades, and craft workshops. There is also a museum exhibition with original finds, models, and interactive elements. Throughout the year, traditional festivals and historical events with demonstrations of crafts and cuisine come alive here.
The open-air museum is open from April to October, attracting thousands of visitors each year. It is ideal to combine a visit with nearby Velehrad – a pilgrimage site of national importance. We recommend planning at least two hours for the tour and checking the program on the official website.
