A beautiful archbishop's chateau with the unique Flower Garden, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, attracts lovers of history and art.
The Archbishop's Chateau in Kroměříž is one of the most important monuments in the Czech Republic and is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Its history dates back to the 13th century, when a Gothic castle stood here, later rebuilt into a Renaissance and Baroque residence of the Bishops and Archbishops of Olomouc. The chateau is famous for its rich painting collection, which includes Titian's painting Apollo and Marsyas, and its magnificent interiors that served as a backdrop for filming the movie Amadeus.
Visitors can admire the state rooms, library, and castle chapel, but an unforgettable experience is especially the tour of the Flower Garden and the Chateau Garden. The Flower Garden, also known as Libosad, is a unique example of Baroque garden art with geometric flower beds, a labyrinth, and a colonnade. The Chateau Garden in the English style offers romantic nooks, water features, and rare trees.
The chateau is open year-round, and during the season, several tour circuits are available. We recommend booking tickets in advance, especially during peak tourist months. Parking is available near the center, and an audio guide in Czech and other languages is available for visitors.
