A unique arboretum on the ruins of Žampach Castle with a rich collection of woody plants and beautiful views of the countryside.
Arboretum Žampach is situated on the slopes of a hill with the ruins of the castle of the same name, offering a unique combination of history and nature. It was founded in the 1960s by foresters who began collecting exotic woody plants. Today it boasts over 500 species of trees and shrubs, with a special emphasis on conifers – you will find firs, spruces, pines, and rare yews.
A walk along the marked trail will take you through individual sections where you can discover plants from various parts of the world. From the viewpoint at the castle ruins, you get a panoramic view of the Podorlicko region and the Orlické Mountains. The site is ideal for a family trip, photographers, and botany enthusiasts.
The arboretum is freely accessible year-round, but it is most beautiful in spring when the rhododendrons bloom and in autumn when the leaves change color. Admission is voluntary; we recommend comfortable footwear. Parking is available near the cemetery in Žampach, from where a marked path leads.
