Apollónův chrám

About this place

Picturesque ruins of an ancient temple in the middle of the forests of the Moravian Karst with a magnificent view.

Apollónův chrám is a romantic ruin of an artificial ancient temple, which the Lichtenštejns had built at the beginning of the 19th century as part of the landscape park around the Křtiny Castle. The building served as a viewing pavilion and a place for the nobility to rest.

Today, it is a freely accessible ruin on the top of a hill, from which a beautiful view opens into the valley of the Křtinský stream and the surrounding forests. The temple is a popular destination for tourists hiking along the marked trails of the Moravian Karst, especially from Křtiny or Adamov.

The visit can be combined with a longer walk along the educational trail that passes other historical monuments, such as the ruined Ronov Castle or Býčí skála. Nearby there is a spring and the place is ideal for a picnic. We recommend bringing a camera – sunsets here are magical.
