Adršpašsko-teplické skály

About this place

The rock town of Adršpach attracts visitors with its sandstone towers, romantic gorges, and crystal-clear lakes. An ideal destination for hikers and climbers.

Adršpašsko-teplické skály is a national natural monument and one of the most visited rock towns in the Czech Republic. Located near Broumov, it is divided into the Adršpach and Teplice rocks. The sandstone formations reach heights of up to 80 meters and create narrow passages such as the famous Myší díra (Mouse Hole). Circular routes take you past Velký vodopád (Great Waterfall), Pískový svět (Sand World), or viewpoints overlooking the Starosta and Starostová rock formations.

The history of tourism in Adršpach dates back to the 19th century, when the first excursionists began to arrive. In 1933, a nature reserve was established here, protecting not only the rocks but also rare flora and fauna, including the peregrine falcon. In addition to hiking trails, you can also take a boat ride on the lake surrounded by rocks, which is a great experience especially for families with children.

Tip for visitors: The main season brings queues, so we recommend going early in the morning or avoiding weekends. There are several refreshment stands in the area, but it is worth bringing your own snacks. Parking is paid and fills up quickly during the season – an alternative is the parking lot in Teplice nad Metují, connected by a green hiking trail. Don't forget sturdy footwear and a camera – the scenery is breathtaking.
