The second highest peak of the Low Tatras, popular year-round – a ski paradise in winter, and in summer offering tourist views of the ridges and the Kamenná chata lookout.
Chopok (2,024 m above sea level) is the second highest peak of the Low Tatras and one of the most accessible Tatra peaks. In winter, it is covered by dozens of kilometers of slopes in Jasná, and in summer it becomes a popular destination for hikers. Thanks to the cable car from Jasná and from the southern side near Srdiečko, even less experienced tourists can reach it.
At the top stands Kamenná Chata, which offers refreshments and breathtaking views of the main ridge of the Low Tatras, the High Tatras, and the Liptovská kotlina basin. From Chopok, you can set out along the ridge trail to Ďumbier or in the opposite direction towards Dereše.
For Czech tourists, it is ideal to choose accommodation in Jasná and take the cable car. In summer, we recommend setting out early in the morning to enjoy quiet ascents without crowds. Don't forget sturdy footwear and warm clothing – the weather here changes very quickly.
