Štrbské pleso
Štrbské pleso is a gem of the High Tatras, a popular spot for hiking, skiing, and relaxation with breathtaking panoramic views of the peaks.
Burda Nature Reserve in Podunajsko offers unique steppe vegetation, rare butterfly species, and breathtaking views of the Danube and Esztergom.
Burda is a national nature reserve declared in 1966, protecting unique thermophilic ecosystems on the southern slopes of a volcanic mountain range. You will find dry grasslands, forest-steppes, and rare plant species such as pheasant's eye and dwarf iris. The reserve is also ornithologically significant, hosting nesting Eurasian eagle-owl and European honey buzzard.
For tourists, Burda is an ideal place for easy hiking with beautiful views. From several viewpoints you can observe the majestic Danube, Hungarian Esztergom with its basilica, and on clear days faraway peaks. An educational trail with information panels guides you through the most interesting areas.
The easiest access is from the village of Kamenica nad Hronom, where marked trails start. We recommend combining the trip with a visit to nearby Štúrovo or the Vadaš thermal baths. You can comfortably reach the top of Burda in less than an hour; the path is suitable even for families with children.
