About this place
Belianská jeskyně is the only cave open to the public in the Tatras, famous for its dripstone decoration and underground lakes.
Belianská jeskyně, located in the Belianske Tatras, is exceptional for its rich dripstone decoration and is the only cave open to the public in the Tatra National Park. It was discovered as early as the 18th century and opened to the public in 1881, making it one of the oldest tourist caves in Central Europe.
The tour route leads around unique cascading lakes and sinter formations. The most famous parts are the Zvonivý dóm (Ringing Dome), where stalactites sound like bells when struck, and the Hudobná sieň (Music Hall), known for its excellent acoustics, where concerts are occasionally held. The cave is over 3.5 km long, of which visitors cover approximately 1,270 meters with many stairs.
Practical tips: Entry is only possible with a guide, the tour lasts about 70 minutes. The temperature inside is around 5 °C, so we recommend warm clothing and sturdy shoes. The cave is located near the village of Tatranská Kotlina, where there is a parking lot. During the season, it is advisable to arrive early, as group capacity is limited. The surrounding Belianske Tatras offer beautiful hiking trails, but due to strict nature protection, movement is only allowed on marked paths.
