Picturesque glacial lake in the heart of the High Tatras, surrounded by impressive peaks and wild nature. An ideal destination for an easy mountain hike.
Batizovské pleso is one of the most beautiful and easily accessible glacial lakes in the High Tatras. It lies at an altitude of 1,884 m in the Batizovská dolina valley, surrounded by majestic peaks such as Gerlachovský štít and Popradský Ľadový štít. The lake was formed after the retreat of a glacier and its crystal-clear water reflects the surrounding rocky giants.
A marked hiking trail leads to the lake from the Tatranská Polianka stop via Sliezsky dom; the route is moderately difficult and suitable even for families with children. The reward is a view not only of the lake but also of the nearby Batizovský vodopád waterfall. There is a seasonal refreshment stand by the lake where one can rest and admire the panorama.
For Czech tourists, Batizovské pleso is an ideal tip for a full-day trip without the need for a challenging ascent. We recommend visiting during the summer months when the trail is free of snow, and do not forget sturdy footwear and plenty of water, as the springs in the area are not potable. It is a popular spot for photographers and lovers of mountain nature.
