Archaeological Open-Air Museum Biskupin

The Biskupin archaeological site is one of the most significant prehistoric discoveries in Central Europe. The Lusatian culture settlement, dated to the 8th century BC, was discovered in 1933 and thanks to the marshy environment, wooden structures have been preserved, allowing its reconstruction. Today, you can wander the streets of the fortified settlement with wooden log cabins, ramparts, and a gate, and soak up the atmosphere of life 2,700 years ago.

In addition to the reconstruction itself, the museum offers a modern exhibition of archaeological finds, including tools, pottery, and ornaments. Regular demonstrations of crafts, archaeological festivals, and workshops for families are held here. The surrounding lake landscape of the Pałuki region also invites walks or cycling trips.

For Czech tourists, Biskupin is easily accessible by car from Wrocław (about 2.5 hours) or from Poznań (1.5 hours). Parking is free at the entrance. The site is open from April to October, daily during the season. Adult admission is about 20 PLN. We recommend allowing at least 2–3 hours for a visit and wearing comfortable shoes—the paths are partly unpaved.
