Brühl's Terrace (Brühlsche Terrasse)

About this place

Brühl's Terrace, nicknamed the 'Balcony of Europe', captivates with panoramic views of the Elbe and the old town of Dresden. Ideal for a romantic walk.

Brühl's Terrace is a historic promenade on the banks of the Elbe in the center of Dresden, rising above the river and offering a magnificent view of the historic city center. Originally part of the city's fortifications, it was transformed in the 18th century by Count Heinrich von Brühl into a representative garden and later opened to the public.

Today, the terrace is lined with important buildings such as the Academy of Fine Arts, the Albertinum, and the Glass Manufactory. Main attractions include the fountain with the Danube nymph, statues of the four times of day, and a wide staircase leading from the Elbe. The place is popular for quiet walks, photography, and romantic stops at sunset.

For Czech tourists, the terrace is easily accessible on foot from the main train station or across the historic Augustbrucke bridge. Entry is free and the site is open year-round. We recommend combining a visit with a tour of the nearby Zwinger, Frauenkirche, and Semperoper.
