Brombachsee (Großer Brombachsee)

Brombachsee, consisting of the Großer and Kleiner Brombachsee, is the heart of the Franconian Lake District and was created as part of the Altmühl–Danube water management project. Today it is a popular recreational paradise with sandy beaches, such as the beach near Absberg, and crystal-clear water for swimming. The lake is surrounded by a 42 km long asphalt cycling path, suitable for inline skaters and wheelchair users.

In addition to water sports such as sailing, windsurfing, or paddleboarding, you can take a trip on the MS Brombachsee excursion boat, which sails between the ports of Ramsberg, Absberg, and Enderndorf. Nature lovers will enjoy the bird sanctuary on the island, accessible only from an observation point, and extensive natural areas with educational trails.

For Czech tourists, Brombachsee is easily accessible by car via the A9 motorway (exit Plech) and offers plenty of parking for day visitors as well as accommodation in campsites, apartments, or hotels. Nearby attractions include the picturesque Abenberg Castle or the thermal baths in Bad Windsheim.
