A picturesque wine village on the banks of the Moselle with a historic square, half-timbered houses, and excellent wine.
Bernkastel-Kues lies in the picturesque valley of the Moselle River and is one of the most beautiful towns in the Moselle wine region. Its history dates back to Roman times, but its current appearance is mainly shaped by medieval architecture. The center is the square with the Renaissance town hall, St. Michael's fountain, and a number of half-timbered houses, the most famous of which is the narrow Leaning House (Schiefes Haus) from the 16th century.
Above the town rises the ruins of Landshut Castle, offering a magnificent view of the meanders of the Moselle and the surrounding vineyards. For wine lovers, Bernkastel-Kues is a paradise - enjoy the famous Rieslings in one of the local wine cellars or hike the Moselsteig wine trail. The town also offers boat trips on the Moselle and relaxation in the thermal baths.
For Czech tourists, Bernkastel-Kues is easily accessible by car from the Czech Republic (about 6 hours). Parking is available on the edge of town, from where you can comfortably walk to the center. During the season it can be busy, so we recommend booking accommodation in advance. Don't forget to try the local specialty - Moselle wine jelly.
