Arche Nebra (Museum of the Nebra Sky Disk)

About this place

Modern museum dedicated to the famous Bronze Age Nebra Sky Disk. Interactive exhibits reveal the secrets of one of the most significant archaeological discoveries.

Arche Nebra is a visitor center and museum dedicated to the Bronze Age Nebra Sky Disk, which was found near the town of Nebra. The disk, approximately 3600 years old, is considered the oldest known depiction of the cosmos and has been inscribed in the UNESCO Memory of the World since 2013. At the museum, you will learn all about the circumstances of its discovery, its astronomical significance, and life during the Bronze Age.

The exhibition is modern and interactive – you can see a faithful replica of the disk, virtual reconstructions, and multimedia presentations. The complex also includes an observation tower offering views of the landscape and the nearby Mittelberg, where the disk was found. For Czech visitors, an audio guide in Czech is available, and some descriptions are translated.

The museum is located about 30 km from the city of Halle and is easily accessible via the A38 motorway. Parking is free. We recommend combining your visit with a walk to the actual discovery site, which starts directly at the museum. Opening hours vary by season, so it is advisable to check them in advance on the website. Admission is reasonable, and families with children will appreciate special programs.
