Allerheiligen-Wasserfälle (All Saints' Waterfalls)

About this place

Romantic cascading waterfalls hidden in a deep gorge in the Black Forest. Wooden walkways and bridges allow close-up views.

The Allerheiligen Waterfalls are among the most beautiful waterfalls in the entire Black Forest. They are located in a narrow gorge of the Lierbach stream, surrounded by lush vegetation. Along a short route of less than a kilometer, you can admire a total of seven larger cascades and several smaller steps that plunge to depths of up to 80 meters.

The hiking trail leads you over wooden walkways, stairs, and bridges directly above the rushing water, providing breathtaking views. Near the entrance are the romantic ruins of the old Premonstratensian monastery Allerheiligen from the 12th century, which are definitely worth a visit. Legend has it that the monastery was destroyed by lightning as punishment for the sinful life of the monks.

Practical tips: Park at the parking lot by the monastery ruins (paid, 2 euros/day). The route is about 1.5 km long (circular) and takes about an hour. We recommend sturdy footwear, as the walkways can be slippery. The most water flows in spring or after heavy rains. The waterfalls are easily accessible from the town of Oppenau or the popular resort of Bad Peterstal-Griesbach.
