Aquatika (Karlovac)

About this place

Explore the fascinating world of Croatian rivers and lakes in a modern freshwater aquarium in Karlovac. Discover over a hundred species of fish, including sturgeons and trout.

Aquatika is the first and only freshwater aquarium in Croatia, opened in 2016 on the banks of the Korana River in Karlovac. The city lies at the confluence of four rivers – Korana, Kupa, Mrežnica, and Dobra – and the aquarium presents this unique water network in a modern way. The building is partially sunk into the ground and offers exhibits dedicated to local ecosystems.

In the aquarium, you will see over 100 species of freshwater fish that inhabit Croatian rivers and lakes – from sturgeons, trout, and pike to smaller species. In addition to the aquariums, there are interactive elements, a screening room, and a geological trail around the area. The complex also includes a souvenir shop and a café with an outdoor terrace.

For Czech tourists, Aquatika is an ideal destination during travels to the interior of Croatia, especially when heading to Plitvice Lakes or Zagreb. It is open year-round, admission for adults is about €10, and parking is free. We recommend allowing at least 1.5 hours for the visit.
