With an area of over 46 km² and a depth of up to 169 m, Attersee is the largest lake in the Austrian Salzkammergut. Its clear water with visibility up to 25 m has earned it the nickname "Crystal Lake." It lies in a picturesque landscape surrounded by mountains, especially the Höllengebirge massif, and offers countless opportunities for recreation and sports.
In summer, the lake becomes a paradise for swimmers, sailors, surfers, and divers. The surrounding cycle paths and hiking trails lead through romantic villages such as Attersee am Attersee, Unterach, or Weyregg, where beaches, campsites, and boat rentals are available. Culture enthusiasts will appreciate the historic villas and the connection to the painter Gustav Klimt, who liked to stay here.
For Czech tourists, Attersee is easily accessible – from the A1 motorway from Linz it is less than an hour's drive. Parking is available at most public beaches, but we recommend arriving early, especially on weekends. The area offers a wide range of accommodation from campsites to family hotels and is an excellent starting point for excursions throughout the Salzkammergut.
